The Birth of a New Baby
Is like unwrapping a package
that has intrigued you for the best part of a year
and finding its contents more exciting,
more perfrct, more wonderful
than you ever dreamed.
It is so small, so new, so utterly helpless.
You're nervous, a little bewildered
by its self-absorbed demands.
And then one day, the eyes find your face,
focus and light up with recognition.
And a smile like no other,
A smile of pure joy and utter sweeps away
all confusion, all awkwardness.
And you begin the long
glad journey of discovery.
